Comfortable sportswear for indoors and outdoors, and a water bottle. If a block needs special kit (bike, skates, cross-country skis), we'll let you know in good time.
No more than 25 children, with 2 to 5 coaches depending on the group, so everyone gets attention.
We see the added value of KST Academy above all in how complete, sustainable and socially far-reaching it is. We were inspired by the Scandinavian model of youth sport, especially in Norway. Working together, particularly at a regional level, and sharing know-how matter a great deal to us. Our aim is for children to build a positive bond with sport and choose activities they want to do and enjoy. The same goes for competing – it's just the cherry on top, and it's up to the athlete and their parents. From where we stand, we're not convinced that regular competing from a young age does any good. That's also why we're preparing a podcast (launching late 2026), where we'll share some of the ideas and aims behind our work in the context of athlete development.
A home base for the whole project. The ground floor will have a sports shop; the upper floor a small gym, space for workshops and a recovery zone with a massage room. The whole place is meant to be a natural centre for the project, where sport, education and culture meet.
Yes – we see growing the project as an important part of its value. Our vision is to broaden what we do wherever there's a clear link and it makes sense. In the next stages we plan to add an outdoor workout park, open to the public. If all goes to plan, we'd then like to open a KST kindergarten, again based on the Scandinavian model.
We use sports facilities in Trutnov, depending on our partner clubs and the sport in question. Now that our training base is built, we of course also use the KST Academy facilities.
This project grew naturally out of KST Team's work and our long-term plans. It is run by the team's founders themselves.
We believe that pushing for results in younger age groups leads to early burnout. Children then give up not just their sport but the sporting community as a whole – and with it a healthy, full way of life. Sport is often highly competitive, and we believe youth sport should put fun first while developing skills and abilities just as well.
– sports training for children and teens – working with local clubs – services (gym, sauna, massage) – fitness testing – organising races, events, workshops, courses and camps – special programmes with seniors (“Fit Senior”) and with a nursery (“Healthy Child”), building the community – our own merch (online shop) – a podcast about sport, and more.
We have planning permission. We are now sorting out the funding so building can start – we expect that in 2027.
Membership fees will be the base. The rest will come from our own income-earning activities, sponsorship, subsidies and grants. Staying independent of the wider sports system is key for us.
